Here we have a photo of a really nicely restored Volvo 122. Overall, there are a lot of things to like. the grills are pretty cool - an inverted BMW design. And the grill has a nice peak in the middle that is really hidden by the bumper that is pretty flat across the front, The hood has a nice shape. The bumper is very large, the marker lights are busy and there is no front valence to match the side rockers.

First we found an old 1966 Mustang front bumper. There are three things going for it. First, it is much thinner than the original bumper and creates a much less heavy look. Second, you will note that it has a peak in the center that matches the peak in the grill (at least before the coupe got hit by a deer there was a peak there). Third, notice about a foot in from the end there is a rearward wave in the bumper - this matches the shape of V-Rex really well. Hey, it's going to be perfect with a little cutting.

After hours of cutting and tacking the first pass with the Mustang bumper fits extremely well, is much less bulky, and accents the grill features.

We started to create a new lower valence for the front with a stock 1966 Mustang part. After much cutting it fit side to side, but was much too tall. We are in the process of trimming this so that the height is much less and it matches the side rockers. We are just getting started on the front so stay tuned for more updates as we progress.

With a clear picture of where to make the cuts on the Mustang bumper we purchased a painted version to use as the finished piece. We'll send for chroming with everything else. Here is the fit after the cuts. Notice the new bumper peak that matches the peak of the front grill area.

Here is the finished, un-chromed bumper from the front view. The front end is no longer dominated by the large flat bumper. This picture also has the cut down front valence that is a much better height.

In this picture you can see new metalwork that connects the new front valence into the new fender flares to create  one continuous piece. It's very important to us that the entire body flows from one end to the other without pieces looking like they are tacked on aftermarket.
